Grasshopper Molting
Female Northern Mockingbird. Grasshopper is Chopra's daughter. We have known each other since she was hatched. She was named Grasshopper because she reminded me so much of the character in the old TV series "Kung Fu". She was the student of the master Chopra. I watched every day as he taught her the ways of the Mock and where she stood in the order of the group. I however, had to teach Chopra that Grasshopper was welcome in my family. He learned to share and there was peace and harmony once more. Here she is in the molting stage in the summer of 2009. She looked like she was wearing a tu-tu. I believe she really enjoyed her fashion statement as it lasted quite a long time. Grasshopper used to raise her wings every time she would take food. I think it was a feeling of insecurity. She doesn't do it much anymore. We are quite close.
